Sure thing ! :)

@david.megginson: thanks for the infos ! :) Does anyone know how the FDM was made - by tuning, with OpenVSP or derived from wind tunnel data ? I've found some wind tunnel and flight test data, and if the FDM wasn't already mad from that, I'd redo the FDM with that wind tunnel data.

Except for the gear location and flap size, the handling in the air should be almost identical to the Cessna 150. In fact, there is at least one STC to convert early 150s to taildraggers:

There is a chance if no one minds I might from time to time work on some effects for this baby. I really like this aircraft.
D-ECHO is there a way you would prefer any contributions. I hope anyone working on it will make sure their efforts gets back to addons.

Every contribution is welcome, you can either directly commit to FGAddon (if you have access) or send changes periodically to me and I will upload them.

If anyone's contributing, :) my first ask would be to light the mag compass so that it's easier to read.

My second (thanks for your patience!) would be to make the fuel-selector functional, via keyboard shortcut and/or clickable areas. The 140 doesn't have a "both" setting, so it gets wing-heavy after a while if you don't switch tanks, and it runs out of fuel sooner than you'd expect. I'm manually switching in the property tree right now.

It would also be great to animate the "Johnson bar" flap control on the floor between the seats. I see that it's roughed in in the "next" hangar, but IIRC it doesn't move yet.

The second I'll do tomorrow, and if the fllap control is a separate object I can animate that too - as for the mag compass, adding a material emission animation should be no problem either ! :)

Please make sure to check whether the real aircraft actually has a lighted compass before adding emission to it. If it doesnt we can look into adjusting the ambient Material properties to make it more readable

Ok sure. IDK if I've asked already - sorry if so - but does someone have a link to a POH for this aircraft ?

It's too early for a POH -- those weren't standardised until the 1970s, IIRC -- but here's a link to a sketchy scan of the Cessna 120/140 Owner's Manual.

Unless we're simulating the 1950s, no aircraft would be in original factory configuration. It's great to keep it close to vintage, but I don't think there would be any problem with a lighted compass (just as the model has a 1970s Bendix-King KX-155 NAVCOM). The original compass would have been overhauled and/or replaced several times by now. It would certainly be illuminated by post lights under the panel, if not directly in the instrument itself, since the aircraft was certified for night flight.

Mag compass lighting was actually implemented already - only it was pointed at the wrong property ! :) I've fixed that and the analog clock. Next I'll add a 3D model for the digital LC2 clock from my C210, then I'll animate the flap control. And if someone could find a photo of the fuel selector, I'll model that too.

The fuel selector is on the floor to the right of the trim wheel. There is a photo on p.17 of the operating manual I linked to earlier, looking directly from above.

Added an AstroTech LC-2 digital clock as optional replacement for the analog clock in FGAddon next.

I'm seeing a visual artifact with the position lights in the latest trunk version of the c140 -- from certain angles, they appear as white squares.
