Boats for Flight Gear

Postby openflight » Wed Oct 05, 2022 2:53 pm

Hi

Back after some time, and looking for boats for Flight Gear. Right now installing and running the Aeroprakt Viking on water, if I don't take off I guess it's a boat.

I have searched and could not find any boats for installation. Maybe a name will help? There is a navy vessel of some sort...

Doesn't show in launcher search ... Flight Gear 2018

The Viking flies OK, lands on water, unfortunately I hit something on take-off. Now how do I turn this into a boat? Stalling speed will have to go up to 200 kt or so...

Oh, search this same forum (Board index -> Flightgear -> Development -> Aircraft) for "floatgear" and you'll two find boats ! :)
And you can also turn any aircraft into boat by removing it's lift and pitch axes (for JSBsim aircraft). For yasim, remove all wings i guess ?

The amphibious jeep does not seem to float, it rides on water like a road vehicle. A better thing would be to use a float plane or the Viking. The Torpedo boat does not work either. Let's see.

EDIT: The Beaver is just fine as a twin hull. Beavers don't fly after all. We are approaching the shore at 20 mph or so, and is there anyway to increase/decrease wave height or is it all wind settings?

Download the two ZIP Files, put them both into a new folder (e.g. /home/user/fgaircraft) or, if you already have a folder for custom aircraft, put them in there, then unzip them in place, add /home/user/fgaircraft to the list of addon aircraft folders in the launcer Addons tab, and they should appear in your aircraft list ! :)

See the big green button in the top right labeled "<> Code" ? Click that, you'll get a popup containing the link to the ZIP file.

Yes. But not the one in FGData - please make a custom one if you didn't already !

Don't forget to rename the outer directory from 'MTB_20m-master' to 'MTB_20m' when you have unpacked the zip-file so that FG finds the files.

Thanks will try.

it starts on runway!

EDIT : That works but I need to be in water not on runway. Do I add custom GPS coordinates in command line box?

--lon=-158.07602 --lat=21.233292 --altitude=-6

now starts in water, nose up, and just bobs up and down sort of.
