Hi all,
I've worked on the aircraft and want to share the current, still WIP, status.

3D model exterior and interior have been improved.
Almost all the needed instruments have been integrated and I also started to implement the electrical system.

I would like now to share the current state with the FG community of users and developers.
At moment all my files are on my github private account. What shall I do to share it?

Thanks!

Impressive work...

If it's on github in a publicly visible repo, that should be enough... then just add a link to it in your initial post so folks can find it easily.

My intention was to publish on FGAddon repository and develop this project there, perhaps getting some volunteers contribution.
I will ask on the dev-list for access.

I'm working to push this aircraft on FGAddon hangar.
Thanks to RedGriffin who is mentoring me in this phase.
At moment the airplane is availble at https://github.com/sdeastis/ProMecc-Freccia
Every comment, suggestion, bug report is welcome!

Cheers!

I was just reading the messages left here, since someone told me that I got a good review. I got to thinking about the effects of changing the washout (twist) of the wing from zero to something more commonly seen, -2 to -4 deg. I was expecting to decreases in drag, lift, and pitching moment. I recommend that exercise for any of you that have a version of Datcom. Save off the original .OUT file, change the .DCM file and rerun Datcom, then compare the two .OUT files. That's one of the beauties of Datcom, the old "Let's find out what happens if we ..."
In brief, the Cm is reduced by about 3%. Drag and lift are also reduced, which changes things up a lot. The best way is to run some flight tests to see what the overall effects of those changes would be.

I don't know about aircraft developing but I think, small planes are good to begin with, as a personal project without pressure, and let airliners or perhaps experimental aircraft to be developed with more experienced contributors on github or elsewhere.

From own experience: Small airplanes can be very complex aerodynamically as well. Sometimes this is only being discovered in the middle of the project....So no problem with starting small or big. Of course airliners have more complex systems.
As you expressed the wish to contribute on aircraft side somewhere else: There is the tendency to develop aircraft in teams and as you are certainly friendly and cooperative (and bring skills with you!) you'd be certainly welcome.

@Bill: Welcome here! Nice work to keep Datcom+ accessible!

Let's revival this topic and my personal project!

I wish to make this toy usable in FLightGear. Alone I'm a bit slow but I hope to get some contribution and cooperation to speed up!

just as a hint, letting folks know how to help increases your chances ;-)

Well this is already help! Thanks!

So at moment we have almost all the areas covered: FDM, Engine, External 3D, Interior 3D, Systems, Sound.
Now I want to focus on two targets:
1) Publish the airplane on FGAddon ( so here I want to know how to do that and If the airplane needs other mandatory features before to integrate it in the official hangar)
2) FDM Engine and Propeller final rifinement ( I want this toy to became nice to fly as I believe the real one is)

Hope to get nice collaborations!

Cheers,
DAS

@SDeAstis: I'm working on two aircraft already, so not much help to be expected from me  , but I can give some pointers - for the propeller, you might want to try out JavaProp + https://github.com/TheFGFSEagle/fgtools ... jsbcpct.py to generate the Cp and Ct tables. Make a propeller that suits your needs in JavaProp, then export the results from the "multi analysis" tab for each blade angle (in 5 degree steps between the minpitch and maxpitch, for variable pitch propellers) then feed the obtained files to the linked script - it will spit out ready-to-paste CP and CT tables for the JSBSim propeller.

Hi,

@SDeAstis,

For propellers, I've often used the NACA Report 640.
(unfortunately hard to find now, or you have to pay or give your personal data)

Hi Alan,

Excellent!
Not for me, but for @SDeAstis and others. This one is of very good quality (which is not the case of the link I gave just above) .

Reassuring that it can still be found other than through data thieves.
