OsgEarth & OsgGis with FG?

osgEarth is a scalable terrain rendering toolkit for OpenSceneGraph. Just create a simple XML file, point it at your imagery, elevation, and vector data, load it into your favorite OSG application, and go! osgEarth supports all kinds of data and comes with lots of examples to help you get up and running quickly and easily.

But osgEarth does more than just render terrain:

* Drape vector (GIS) data on the terrain

osgGIS is software that enables you to visualize, query, and manipulate GIS data from within an OpenSceneGraph application. In short, you can generate spatially accurate 3D geometry from GIS data layers while maintaining connectivity to the GIS data sources.

How difficult would it be to implement it in FG??

Not possible- the images you see makes use of images which are not compatible with our licence.

But, what about using an accurate and open terrain data, and default FlightGear textures?

El Flauta: we already do.
Look at Stattoo's work or, when up again, the mapserver by Martin.

It is up to us to use this. Or look what Fred is making: http://www.youtube.com/user/fgfred64

In the case that you mean just to use their "earth" and settle FlightGear on it, it is more complicated. A lot of things are related to ground rendering and that's not an easy part.
Like said, Frederic Bouvier is making something like that but it will need a long time until it could be used for FlightGear....

Absolutely not! In the case of osgearth, images are stored on external servers and only used. Servers remain the owners of the images there is no violation of licenses.

In addition, a specific server can be created with free images.

Osgearth and is not useful only to the ground. It could also be used to create GPS display so much faster and easier than any other system.

There are at least 3 years that I speak that.
