ALS issue Mac M1

Postby hendyrix » Mon Apr 04, 2022 4:37 pm

Hi guys

I'm having a graphics problem on the latest macbook on flightgear when using ALS rendering. When I turn on ALS, this is the kind of issue I'm having as shown by the first picture on the link with the a320 but it happens with basically every aircraft. The sky also goes to a weird colour as you will see

Turning ALS off, the issue stops but certain lights e.t.c don't show as show

Anyone know why this is?

Thank you!

what kind of macbook is that? is it one of the M1 ones??
which (full) version of FG are you using?

i cannot see images on imgur so i don't know what you're trying to show us... in any case, some lights are emissive while others are shader based using ALS... when you turn off ALS, the shader is no longer used so those lights don't "shine"...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Hello,

As ALS is completely broken on Apple Silicon still (M1/M2/etc...) here's my current setup.
- Use stable FG
- Use Rembrandt renderer (to get night lighting, advanced shadows, etc...)
- Use my new custom FXAA shader for FlightGear to get anti-aliasing: https://forum.flightgear.org/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=41200
- Enjoy. :D
