Well, I didn't notice the issue anymore (I've finally changed to up-to-date git next), but I didn't look for it either. I'll keep bug eyes for that on the next flight ! :)

I experienced the same issue today in my latest stable release(2020.3.15) and the nightly git version.

As soon as I start FlightGear, faraway sceneries look hazy.
I tried tinkering here and there, and I found:

Just after starting FlightGear, if I go to the 'Weather' settings in the Environment section from the top bar and simply press the Apply button there; the scenery becomes normals as usual!

I tried changing some settings, and it seems that anti-aliasing was creating a contrast of different objects and trees with the background scenery and the terrain quality ultra also created a hazy effect, meanwhile clicking the apply button in the weather settings panel increased the visibility which kind of decreased the haze effect.
Now I think the issue is solved for me.
EDIT:
I am kind of confused here; in the morning, when I posted my first comment, the far-away objects seemed blue, just like it had happened for the original poster.
But, somehow -I don't know if it is related to my explanation mentioned above- but the blueness seems to have gone.
This issue has happened to me before, and just like this time previously, it got solved by itself.

Thank you

Regards
Austin
