Dedicated GPU not used

Postby ole » Sun Dec 26, 2021 11:31 pm

Hi,
I have flightgear running on an ideapad 5 pro with the ryzen 5800h and GTX1650 with the latest manjaro KDE (xorg). It runs not that bad, however I realized that it does not use the dedicated GPU at all.
How can I make flightgear use the Nvidia graphics?
I am using the flatpak version.

Usually it is in the computer setting which card to use for which program. My laptop (NVidia card) is cab[able of automatically changing according to necessity or manually with a hardware switch or software switch. This is on windows. Linux was a little harder, I had to install pop-linux. It configured it automagically as well and I think it has a software switch for manually changing it.

TL;DR: use the prime-run utility to switch the GPU when FG is being started... this may mean adjusting the script or icon settings...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."
