Strange airport scenery view

Postby camileck » Sat Jun 20, 2020 10:12 am

Hi, On this video the LPMA airport looks a way different then it looks on my FG installation. In the comment the video's author states that it is default FG scenery. Please see the screenshots attached. I have also tried to disable Random Scenery Objects and switch Buildings setting to "Open Street Map data" with no luck. FG 2020.1.1, Ubuntu 16.04. What may be the reason? Can you guys check how it looks on your boxes?

If you're referring to the appearance/elevation of the buildings, that's the so called "urban shader" at work:

As you can see in the screenshot urban shader is already at the highest setting.

There have been improvements to mediterranean material definitions and object placement at LPMA in recent years. The video you reference is from 2016, so four years old.

The urban shader 3d-like effects only show when buildings in the rendering dialog are set to "Disabled". I personally disable the urban shader because I don't like the looks, especially at low altitude and when over larger cities. IMHO you get better results without the urban shader and with OSM scenery. Look here:
