Proper way to load HD scenery

Postby xen_steda » Thu Jan 30, 2020 6:01 pm

Hello, I have a question, so if I am using the scenery that has been downloaded from the scenery world grid on the Flightgear website and manually added to the Flightgear directory, do I need to disable the option to "download scenery automatically" for the manually installed scenery to show?

Thanks for any assistance!

which directory, exactly, are you adding the scenery to when you manually download and install it?
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

I have been adding them to the directory that originates in the programs/flightgear2019.1.1/scenery/objects, /terrain, etc.

yeah, wrong place... you should add scenery and craft to the proper FG directory in your user's home directory... why? if you uninstall or upgrade, there may be problems and/or the things you've added may be deleted when you don't want them to be...

Here is how I lay out my scenery and it works perfectly. In addition, I have changed the location of the terrasync directory to a different drive because the default was to use an area of my limited system drive. I am running terrasync and this layout works seamlessly. Notice my path order, I have custom small areas, then the entire stock world scenery, then terrasync on which updates everything if something is added to it I don't have.
