Graphics card and Rembrandt rendering

Graphics issues like: bad framerates, weird colors, OpenGL errors etc. Bad graphics ar usually the result of bad graphics cards or drivers.

In order to help you, we need to know a lot of information. Make sure to include answers to at least the following questions in your initial post.

- what OS (Windows Xp/Vista, Mac etc.) are you running?
- what FlightGear version do you use?
- what graphics card do you have?
- does the problem occur with any aircraft, at any airport?
- is there any output printed to the console (black window)?
- copy&paste your commandline (tick the "Show commandline box on the last page of FGRun or the "Others" section on the Mac launcher).
- please upload a screenshot of the problem.

If you experience FlightGear crashes, please report a bug using the issue tracker (can be also used for feature requests).
To run FlightGear on old computers with bad OpenGL support, please take a look at this wiki article. If you are seeing corrupted/broken textures, please see this article.

Note: If you did not get a reponse, even after 7 days, you may want to check out the FlightGear mailing lists to ask your question there.

I checked some benchmarks and K1200 is not as good as K2000. Both cards was MXM. But gaming card will be better choice, same power with much lower price.

A link to the benchmarks would be great! How does one connect three monitors to that card? How do you have your three monitors connected to your card?

Sorry, it was my big mistake, I compared notebook MXM versions M1200 vs M2000

I did a bit of research, and maybe a bit more is in order. It appears you may be correct about the graphics card differences. It isn't just the memory and cores, but how they are allocated.

It appears some cards are more accurate mathematically for CAD/CAM, and others provide more realistic game displays.

Thanks for your input. :)

Edit: If anybody has a recommendation on a low profile gaming video card that has a power supply requirement of around 50 watts and less than $500, I would be very grateful. I'm currently limited by a 250 watt power supply and low profile. I'm now considering upgrading my computer to a more powerful unit.

The Nividia 730 is rated at 38W and is available pretty cheaply.

The 940MX is rated at 23W, not sure if it works though since its a mobile (ie laptop) GPU. i use a 920MX and it works very well (except with geometry shader - ie overlay + urban shaders in FG). Everything else works great.

The 730 is roughly equivalent in power to 920 by the looks of it.

They move when you pan the view, and I get three sets of "landing lights", two in each display. And they are not nearly as effective as the Rembrandt landing lights.

If you are one of the developers, and the answer is "Rembrandt is no longer supported", I guess that will have to do. Too bad though. It seemed to work ok with a single monitor.

hi,
Did u got any Solution for getting three sets of "landing lights"...i too facing the same issue

@sathish: i don't think the multi-monitor landing lights problem has been solved yet...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Yes, it has. I'm using it. Three monitors using ALS rendering.

There are some caveats:
1) ALS rendering required.
2) View -> Rendering Options - Shader Effects -> Custom Settings must be selected.
3) Under Shader Effects -> Custom Settings, set Landmass to at or near maximum.
4) The aircraft must have the ALS type landing light code.

My DHC6 has ALS landing and taxi lights, along with several other changes (mostly internal lighting and sound).

thanks, tim... i actually had this conversation mixed up with another on-going on in another area... i'm not sure if the folks having this problem are seeing it due to craft side code or settings... i suspect craft side code, though...

[edit]

ALS Landing lights are visible in Multiple Views

The C172 has adequate landing lights in ALS rendering, so I "stole" those for my other aircraft. I modified the taxi light on the DHC6 so it points in the direction of the nose wheel like it is supposed to. They aren't perfect yet, but I work on it now and then.

Edit: For those who helped me with the graphics card decision, I finally got a new power supply (CoolerMaster 600w) and a GTX1050Ti video card. Great performance. Thanks for your input.

FYI: The ALS landing lights are not nearly as realistic as the Rembrandt lights when landing, but you can taxi around a dark airport with them.
