i'm glad i was able to help and explain some things... glad, too, that you found settings for your system that alleviate the problem... sometimes we can only do so much and wanting to do more gives us a drive to advance (eg: saving to get a new machine or video card) ;)
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Another thing that hasn't been mentioned, I think, is setting Weather to "Basic Weather". The physics, I believe, are still the same, but the cloud rendering is a lot simpler, and it tends to make a huge impact.

Nope - clouds are just the tip of the iceberg - it works completely different internally.

Intel is bussines graphics card for Excel, PowerPoint and some video presentations optimized for DirectX but not for serious OpenGL work (FG is OpenGL app). And this is core of the problem - very badly implemented OpenGL drivers without optimalization. Flickering 3D models, ugly glitches and poor performance is in result. If You can, chceck possibility to upgrade graphics, some notebooks has MXM slot for graphics boards, reasonable AMD FirePro 5950 cost around 50 USD on Amazon or Ebay. Do not buy nVidia Quadro 1000M, performance in FG is poor.

Try reinstall graphics driver as first...
