Flightgear V2018.2.2
System: Ubuntu 18.04
GPU: nVidia GTS250
Driver: nVidia 340.107
Location: TNCM

I was using few days ago FG with the following settings without any problem:

I don't know what happened (maybe some update?) but now with the same settings I'm getting a dark screen:

ALS disabled:

ALS enabled (Transition set to low):

What happened??

Could you open the weather dialog? I think I saw a similar bug before...

This for sure happens when there is a '///' in the METAR string.
Actively developing the MiG-21bis (link to repo) (link to thread) is an active flightgear dogfighting community (using a system that isn’t bombable)

i thought there was already a fix in "next" for this... i know that CAVOK was recently discussed and worked on...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."
