runway light intensity

Postby jtprophet » Fri Dec 08, 2017 3:46 pm

Good morning everyone and Happy Friday,

Last night I was simulating a clear weather landing last night at KJFK into 31L and performed a nice landing; I then watched a youtube video of an airliner
on the same approach and noticed that the approach lighting and the runway lighting was much brighter, is there a setting in the sim that will allow you to tweak this to enhance the intensity of the runway lighting?

Thank-you

John.

I'm not sure. Did you use Atmospheric Light Scattering and the new lighting (from 3.2 IIRC)? Was his video from real life? Was his video from another flight sim?

I'm not sure what you mean by this?

Actually I used to have 2017.3.1 installed and then Ubuntu had some updates that rendered my newest copy unusable; basically it wont launch again just sits on the task bar and then disappears. So I have had to resolve to 2016.4 I do believe.

I will try and resolve my issue and get back up to speed with the latest version again and then check out the new lighting, thank-you.

Ok, you have 2016.4, it should have new lighting. Enable ALS in View > Rendering (Atmospheric Light Scattering). Ensure point sprites are ENABLED.
