White trees. Graphics card issue?

Postby tominto » Mon Nov 27, 2017 1:26 pm

Hello all

I've noticed this effect on trees while flying around in flightgear. The trees appear white. Is it supposed to look like this or is it due to my gpu (amd 10-7800) The effect doesn't look natural.

Thanks

what is the weather like? give us a METAR or three for that area when you see this...

it is possible that some trees are being rendered with frost, ice or snow on them... i've been seeing the same at KRDU on these cold mornings...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Given that some of the trees in the foreground are green, I think it's more likely that the problem is inconsistent fogging between the trees and the scenery.

We apply fogging based on visibility distance - as you can see the scenery is getting washed out to light grey/white in the distance, but the trees are getting washed out much closer to the viewpoint.

Could you tell me
- FlightGear version
- METAR/weather configuration.
- Were you using Basic Weather or Advanced Weather?
- Where you were flying (lat/lon ideally)
- What graphics options you had set - are you using Atmospheric Light Scattering, and at what quality level?

Thanks,

-Stuart
