back to fixed function rendering? hide all buildings?

i downloaded FG3.0 and found the graphic performance unsatisfying on my Atom Z3740 Win8 tablet. i managed to get 30 fps sometimes but it can drop to 10 when facing other directions. i believe i have disables any eye candy and cpu is at multithread mode.
i wonder if FG can run without any shader, or if all objects on ground can be hidden. after all, some people dont aim for graphics but rather physics.
