Generic Protocol Variable Size

Postby tsalkt » Thu Mar 16, 2017 7:28 am

Hi!

I am connecting FlightGear with C++ using UDP and the generic protocol. I know how to send and receive variables using the xml descriptor. In example, I can send the latitude as a float adding the following <chunk> to the xml file.

Code: Select all
...
<chunk><name>latitude-deg</name>
<type>double</type>
<node>/position/latitude-deg</node>
<format>%f</format></chunk>
...

The problem is that I also would like to send data that has not a fixed length, i.e. /variable[n] where n can take any value in a certain range. So my questions are:
Does FlightGear accept any kind of syntax like variable[1-4] or something like that?
How can I send variable size data?
