How to use kde marble in real time in flightgear?

Hi guys,

I found this video on youtube, and even though no description is given, it does seem to be kde marble displaying the map.

Anyone knows a way of getting this to work?

Hi,

Did you see our wiki? http://wiki.flightgear.org/Marble Feel free to ask if that doesn't work.

Cheers,

It works, but not very well. I mean, FlightGear-Marble connection is established and I can see the position/direction of the airplane in Marble but then as soon I 'zoom in' in the marble map the aircraft cursor disappears. It must be a problem with Marble. Im using:

Flightgear 2016.4.4
Marble 2.1.0
Operating system: Antergos OS

Does anyone have the same problem? Any help?

what's the advantage of marble ?

The build-in "Phi" map (opens in browser) is the best moving map I can think of.

That is not the point of this post. The point of this post is to get Marble working correctly with FlightGear!

But anyways, why do I prefer Marble... I much prefer marble as it is a virtual globe software with a load of geographic calculation and display options. 'Phi' map is small and does not have many display options. In addition, 'Phi' map uses the ultra ugly Mercator projection, while Marble is a globe! This is not to say that I don't find the 'Phi' project interesting. I think 'Phi' is an interesting project, just its mapping features are not comparable to those of Marble.

Anyway guys, back to the main question: any ideas on how to get Marble to work with FlightGear? Any help?

I think this is an issue with Marble 2.1.0, as I tried Marble 1.14 in Ubuntu 16.04 and it worked perfectly fine.
