Ubuntu / Windows 7 UDP Multicomputer issue

Postby Snowblind1 » Sun Nov 29, 2015 7:16 pm

Hello!

I am working on a multi-computer setup. I have done it before between PC's and a Mac http://wiki.flightgear.org/Howto:Multi-computing_FlightGear, but I have some Ubuntu boxes I am currently dealing with, that are giving me issues. I am pretty sure I have read most of the wiki articles and forum posts on this topic, but apparently I am doing something wrong. I realize this topic has been beat to death, but I am not seeing anything that is helping me. This was the closest: http://forum.flightgear.org/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=24599, and it died when the poster's computer died. This one also helped somewhat:http://forum.flightgear.org/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=23789

The relevant configs are as follows:

Win7 (Master):

--native-fdm=socket,out,60,10.168.192.18,5510,udp
--native-ctrls=socket,out,60,10.168.192.18,5511,udp
--native-fdm=socket,out,60,10.192.168.21,5510,udp
--native-ctrls=socket,out,60,10.192.168.21,5511,udp

Ubuntu (Slave 1 - 10.192.168.18):
--native-fdm=socket,in,60,,5510,udp
--native-ctrls=socket,in,60,,5511,udp
--fdm=null

Win7 (Slave2 - 10.192.168.21):
--native-fdm=socket,in,60,,5510,udp
--native-ctrls=socket,in,60,,5511,udp
--fdm=null

Terrasync is turned off on the slave machines. All scenery is loaded locally.

The two Win7 machines connect without any issues, and I am able to fly with the master and watch on the slave. On the Ubuntu machine, I can use a variety of utilities to see that the 5510 and 5511 ports are being opened and listening while FG is running, but no connection appears to be established. I installed a firewall (UFW), and specifically opened those ports (5510 and 5511) - no change. The firewall is currently disabled. I am leaning more towards something in the Ubuntu OS rather than a FG specific issue.

If anyone has any ideas (rather than just switch everything to Ubuntu :) ), I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

10.168.192.18 ... should that be 10.192.168.18?

Well, sometimes it just take an extra pair of eyes. ;) At least you did not give up, but asked for advice. :)
