Sound

Connecting two computers, using generic protocol, connecting with Matlab?

Sound

Postby Robertfm » Thu May 13, 2021 4:22 pm

Is there a way I can connect to the sound using another computer. The reason I ask is I am unable to pair by new headphones on my main computer for some reason. My tablet which I use with Approach charts has bluetooth which works fine. Any help would be welcomed.

I have tried numerous fixes on my main computer but nothing seems to work. It's not an interference issue as my wifi runs on a channel not used by anyone within my locale.

bluetooth and wifi are two different things...

does your main computer actually have bluetooth capabilities? if not, you might need a bluetooth dongle for that capability so you can pair your bluetooth headphones to it...

"Why not?" said Gurder.

I have a dongle which on the face of it is working when switched on says discoverable by Gaming (Computer name). My new Headphones have arrived and they are detected and pair, however they won't connect. I have downloaded the latest drivers from the manufacturers website for the bluetooth etc.

i don't know... you might have to consult with the headphone and dongle manufacturers...

FWIW: on my new motherboard that has bluetooth built in, i had to specifically disable some encryption thing on bluetooth in linux so my xbox 360 controller would connect... no idea if you may be running into something similar with your headphones, though... definitely do some more research on your headphones and your dongle... it may be similar but in reverse... just guessing, tho...

Thanks anyway, I am just wondering if the dongle is simply incompatible with Windows 10. There are lots of forums highlighting similar problems but no solutions. This why I asked if there was anyway to run FG Sound on another computer.

Further to the issue of Bluetooth, I have now installed an internal card and it links fine with FG however once again if I say I walk out of range and it disconnects when I go back into range and it reconnects I lose the 'effects' sound (Plane Engine) however the avionics sounds, like AP sounds, Morse identifier, altitude audible etc worked. Why can one lot of sound work and not the other especially as the Master Volume shuts them all down.

As a work-around you could connect your main volume output with a minijack cable to the main input of your second pc, enable 'listen to this device' on it and connect your headphones to it. It's not clean, but it will work.

Thanks for the suggestion but my second device is a Windows tablet that only has a headphone mini jack (2.5) it's output not input. I had read about the cable method and even ordered a cable, then I realised it wouldn't work unless the Tablet jack has duel function.
