Howto influence the size of model preview in fgrun?

Postby mhab » Fri Nov 22, 2013 12:36 am

Hello

Is there a way to influence the size of an aircraft model in the fgrun preview window ?
It seems to me most models are displayed very small initially. Would be nicer if they better fill the window immediately ...

Thanks

I think that FGRUN draws a bounding box around the 3D objects in the model(s) and then displays everything in the bounding box. So I don't think there is anything you can do to change how aircraft are sized in FGRUN. There may be aircraft that have 3D objects in odd locations (IE. far away from the aircraft) that cause them to display as very small in FGRUN. In that case contacting the aircraft maintainer is the correct thing to do.

hvengel is right, but it is not a bug in the aircraft. It is the cone of light of many aircrafts, it is often several times the size of the aircraft body. I don't think there is an easy fix for this. Maybe introducing some new property "radius of the bounding sphere" in the aircraft description? If this property is not found, fgrun may revert to the current behavior.

You could add <nopreview/> to those lights in your xml file, as explained at http://wiki.flightgear.org/Project_Rembrandt#Spotlights
Airports: EHAM, EHLE, KSFO
Aircraft: 747-400
