R.I.P

Condolences to the victims of this horrible air crash today....
May god give strength to the families and our prayers be with those who departed from us...
The only positive is, a 7 years old boy survived
Total casualities :100+

I'm really starting to worry about my A330-200 flight from KJFK to KDUB in June with AF447 and this one. But do to finances, I'll still be going even if it's not a Boeing.

You don't need to worry about being on an A330 flight. Two crashes out of millions of A330 flights gives you a pretty good chance. And most likely, one, if not both were pilot error (correct me if I'm wrong)

In AF447, they think the computer got screwed up and put them into a full-throttle nose-dive to gain "airspeed". Which put them above Mach 2.

According to that, there was no post-crash fire. Sounds like fuel exhaustion to me, but they'll have to ask the kid who survived, as well as look at the black box data.

Yeah, same here. Maybe fuel leakage? It seemed the pilot missed the runway, but he was determined to put it down, which led to the crash. Coulda been a once-chance landing with no fuel left. Wouldn't be the first time.......

Things like this are always horrible... I live in the Netherlands and 70 Dutch people died, but one little Dutch boy of 10 (I believe) is the only one who survived the crash. Really - why?

On the television I heard something like the pilot asked the tower for medical help on the ground. But this can also be something completely different: maybe someone got sick or claustrophobic or I don't know... By the way, this crash also makes me think about Turkish Airlines at Schiphol - how long was that ago again? That also seemed like the aircraft was just falling down right before landing.

If he was asking for medical help, then we can't rule out the theory of terrorism....maybe there was a struggle for control and somebody was injured?

Last I heard they were picking through the seats to get the bodies. And they did find the flight recorders.

Terrorism? On approach? Why would they do that at such a late stage. Even if they were successful, what would they possibly terrorize in Libya? Isn't Libya one of the many countries that is prone to homing terrorists? And if so, why would they terrorize one of their safety net countries with a HUGE A330? For them to go through all of that effort doesn't seem likely. This is something I would not rule out, but save this idea til' the very last if no other conclusion seems plausible.

The government quickly ruled out terrorism, and I agree with that.

Yeah but that's pretty weird isn't it? They told us they had no idea what happened, but they did rule terrorism out... Interesting.
