R.I.P. Brigadier General Chuck Yeager

Charles Elwood Yeager February 13, 1923 – December 7, 2020.
He was a United States Air Force officer, flying ace, and record-setting test pilot. In 1947,
he became the first pilot in history confirmed to have exceeded the speed of sound in level flight.

R.I.P. :(

Imagine having seen as much of the development of aviation as he did, often from the midst of it even. When he was born, aviation was quite young. Through his years he would see commercial flight become viable for more people than just the most wealthy, he himself would break the sound barrier, humans would set foot on the moon, and aviation would become more and more safe. :)
