Air Astana test flight

Postby Alant » Tue Nov 13, 2018 11:44 pm

Two days ago there was a major emergency on a test flight following maintenance here in Portugal. The crew requested diversion to ditch in the sea, but eventiually regained enough control to land at Beja
See https://airwaysmag.com/industry/air-astana-e190-emergency-landing-after-losing-aircraft-control/ - where there is a video of the radar track and ATC conversations and https://www.rtp.pt/noticias/pais/rtp-teve-acesso-exclusivo-as-imagens-dos-f16-que-escoltaram-o-aviao-da-air-astana_v1111222 for the view from escorting F16´s.

Scary

Alan

PS. There was a second emergency landing today with F16 escorts, this time at Faro. This time a Transavia flight lost cabin pressure. See (In Portuguese) http://www.presstur.com/empresas---negocios/aviacao/aviao-da-transavia-com-149-passageiros-a-bordo-aterra-de-emergencia-em-faro/
A previous emergency this year received coverage in the English tabloids - https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/plane-forced-make-emergency-landing-12627517
