May be best to use speedbrakes rather than take manual control of elevator? :wink:

deploy partial speedbrakes slowly until a noticeable reduction in airspeed in achieved, and retract them equally slowly once the airspeed falls below the operating limits.

The article somewhat reads like this was all Ryanair did to prevent similar events in the future: :|
