[Curiosity]How often AP is used in military aviation .

Hi,
Just by curiosity , any one has an idea about how often Autopilots are used in the real military aviation .
I know that in combat missions or training this will be depending on the status ,
but when cruising , long borders patrols ..etc.. I don't think that a pilot even in a modern fighter will fly by hand for long distances .
I even think that they are instructed to engage APs for cruise by their commanders .
Just a silly question but I'm curious to know these about these details

So by "busy" you mean that engaging the AP is a must , by "Follow route" or "attitude-hold" or something similar ?
please , correct me if I'm wrong .

Not necessarily a combat aircraft discussed but:

"Most of a flight is flown with the autopilot engaged. This allow the pilots to focus on other important tasks such as navigation, communication and systems operation."

All these answers seem to some times contradict eachother, but one recurring theme is fatigue.

"Yes, virtually every military aircraft has an autopilot. Larger aircraft such as C-5s and KC-135s have sophisticated autopilots that mirror their civilian counterparts, with full flight planning and vertical navigation capability. Fighter aircraft have much simpler two-axis autopilots that offer basic workload relief during the ingress and egress phases."
