Some videos about flutter and aeroelasticity

Flutter is oscillations in various modes and combinations of modes induced by mass distribution, elasticity and aerodynamic properties of an aircraft and its parts. Aeroelasticity is the theory of how that all is related to each other and how to predict how an aircraft design would behave. Typically flutter appear and increases as airspeed and dynamic pressure increases.

Rod Machado - Aerodynamic Flutter (5 min)

FlightInformer - The flutter effect explained (8 min)

NASA Langley CRGIS - Aeroelastic Phenomena and Related Research - Part 1 and 2 (6 and 7 min)

Jeff Quitney - Flutter (Aerodynamics) circa 1940 NACA Langley Research Center (15 min, no audio)

To round it off, here is probably a bit of a classic:

One of the highlights when I had access to the Discovery Channel many years ago was the (too?) short "How It's Made" episodes. It seems like they actually have a YouTube channel.

Here is one that maybe of interest:

Since the spring here seems near, here is a lovely spoofed as a bonus:

"How Its Made" is still on... we watch it all the time... not sure what channel(s) on satellite we see it on, though... it is pretty good but we wish that there was a little more detail on some things...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Indeed. Sometimes they come in two parts though, like this wonderful one (a Piper Malibu Meridian it seems):

The way they built the wings with an adhesive tape applied to the ribs, spars and stringers that was baked once the wing was skinned was quite interesting.

A Jet Airways B773, VT-JET, at FL360 about 20 NM N of Cologne while enroute on flight 9W-118 from Mumbai to Heathrow apparently had a com failure. As a routine aircraft not responding on ATC or emergency frequencies are intercepted. Filmed by the FO of a nearby airliner (7 min):

The flight control system (FCS) of the McDonnel F4 Phantom.

"A model of simplicity" the narrator calls it.

Jeff Quitney - F-4 Flight Control Systems circa 1969 US Air Force-McDonnell Douglas (21 min)

I would guess that with modern FBW systems the FCS systems have become much simpler and easier to maintain (probably apart from the software).

----

EDIT:

So with with the FCS being "A model of simplicity" the flight characteristics must make it a Pilots Plane (TM). Not quite so it seems.

Interesting meta format. :) Caution: Contains a drawing that could be considered NSFW at some places.

I always wonder how they did this:

helicopterlineman - installing marker ball 2012 (6 min)

I am a bit surprised to see that neither the ball nor the cordless drill had tethers. In particular the drill can do some damage if dropped.

Man! That's some serious piece of flying there! Also, I've gotten a little sick. Imagining I was to sit there and install the ball - I just couldn't do it!

Oh man, now I have to add that to the cargo ability of the AirCrane.
I really should polish that entire system to be adaptable to any helicopter which has always been my ultimate goal.

@ Chris Blues -+1 Sheeeeeep dip !!!

I wonder how many pairs of pants he gets through each day.
How many marker balls does he place each day?

I hope both the Pilot and the workman get a huge bonus for each one placed.
