In comparison it takes me 5-10 minutes to get within 15 feet (or possibly meters) of cargo when using FGUK's MD500 models, and they are the easier helicopters to fly.

Indeed. Though supposedly the configuration of the MD500's mechanical fully articulated rotor head using a "strap pack" concept makes it both more controllable, agile, and stable. For details on the rotor head assembly see for example halfway down in this article.
