Orion launches tommorow! EFT-1

Postby legoboyvdlp » Wed Dec 03, 2014 2:47 pm

NASA is launching the new Orion capsule on its first mission tomorrow, for a flight test that if I remember right will go higher than any manned flight before, except for Apollo. Only, of course this is an Unmanned flight.

From nasa.gov:
Code: Select all
At the Launch Readiness Review for Orion’s flight test, designated Exploration Flight Test-1, managers from United Launch Alliance (ULA) and Lockheed Martin gave a “go” to proceed toward launch pending completion of open work. The weather is forecast to be 60 percent “go” for a scheduled liftoff at 7:05 a.m. EST on Thursday, Dec. 4. ULA’s Delta IV Heavy rocket will launch Orion on its two orbit, 4.5 hour flight test from Space Launch Complex 37 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

Two splashdown videos:

Here is a longer reentry and splashdown video:

Strange video in some ways by the way (pronounced echo, http://www.Bandicam.com and PBS News Hour logos, terminal window briefly showing etc). "NASA Public" is most probably not an official NASA YouTube channel.

I will! If Murphys Law doesn't finaly log of me till then.
I was 9 when the Eagle has landed. And my family name is "Adler" :-)
(That's German vor Eagle)

In Germany, a space ship Orion is very well known. But not the NASA one. There was a mini series on TV "Raumpatrouille" with "The fast space cuiser ORION"

I have seen the Space Shuttle in FG. So it is possible to ad space ships into FC, isn't it?
Is it also possible to add flight behavior of alien kind?
Would someone help me to ad the Orion in FG?
