I wonder if the (windows app) CABLE (a virtual audio device) or similar could mix the FG audio and the incoming mic - I think I'm getting into the realms of full on audio production here (an interest of mine), next I'll be asking for passenger sounds in the background, screaming kids etc haha ...but, we could always encourage pilots to crank up their speakers XD to let the engine audio bleed into the voice microphone ...after all there'll be no feedback with half duplex :D

It was just a thought, it is definitely a very functional and realistic plugin and an excellent piece of programming work.

First of all congrats to Benih for this fantastic addon! It was fun to work with it!

A combination of Mumble and FGFS-audio should include a "headphone"-mode, as aircraft sounds are damped or electronically cancelled. Seems to be difficult to realize with the information as above.
Easy solution: FGFS on (external) speakers with realistic decibels and mumble via headset. Which you will need to block the banging of your neighbors at your door....

Within the context of our GA-Wednesday I've missed a bit the casual chatting, but can be handled depending on what kind of event we do (And yes to the ATC-pie!)

Why, anyways ? Except for the presence of the plugin, nothing (comm-wise) was different from the other sessions, or am I wrong ?

It is a bit different with realistic radio, when you press the key and to not hear the others during that time.

Benih, which version of the plugin was the debugged one?

Nice ideas :) you ca do all sorts of things with audio mixing, i played with jack and pulseaudio in the past. Regarding FGCom-mumble, I would consider that out of scope, however :)

Which you will need to block the banging of your neighbors at your door....

I would guess thats not a problem with the Lycoming O-540 :) (or your engine sound volume is not realistic enough, haha)

Within the context of our GA-Wednesday I've missed a bit the casual chatting, but can be handled depending on what kind of event we do (And yes to the ATC-pie!)

One idea might be, to establish two-comms mode:
- COM1 on a real flying frequency, like the tower one, or one we agree onto beforehand
- COM2 on AIR-AIR frequency for casual chatting
This way, I can tune down (or even mute) COM2 for critical flight phases; also chatting on COM2 does not block audio on COM1.
This requires a plane with a reasonably well modelled radio stack, however.
Default FGCom PTT buttons are: SPACE=COM1; SHIFT+SPACE=COM2

So, updates on mumble 1.4 into debian (and following ubuntu and friends); the package maintainer is working on that right now. I am in contact with him and try to help as good as I can (which isn't much, honestly). So with a bit of luck we can expect a mumble 1.4 package upgrade in debian testing (which eventually gets the next stable; and ubuntu should get it sooner than that)

This is exciting! Maybe, just maybe, it will be ready by mid-June or mid-July for a GA flight across France which I've been planning.

Cheers,

Apart from the Install video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTRzfVfkgZE), DorDek Kiddy made a video explaining
testing with the RadioGUI: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boHsPVTSddk

Thank you very much!

(i added it to the front page and wiki entry)

Hello benih and other guys.
I'm trying to use mumble and fgcom-mumble.
I got a problem.
I followed the tutorial of Dordek and it was fine.

I entered the "chat" fgcom-mumble correctly.

When I've arrived to the Echo test, unfortunately it didn't work.

I found in the information message about my user in mumble that FGcom is inactive (FGCom (v1.0.1): inactive), although I have enabled it through FG.
Anyway, following the DorDek tutorial, connection to FG should not have been necessary for the Echo test.

How can I turn the FGcom to active for my user on mumble?
I did not find information about that on the web and phorum.

Another issue. In Mumble my user information window returns the issue #5827 (The server seems to report a truncated versin for this client).
Could be that the reason? How can I solve it?

I use now FG version 2020.3.15.
Mumble version is 1.4.287.

Thanks for help in advance

Bye

Hm, i just successfully conducted an echotest using the radioGUI, so it should not be the server parts.
The server rebooted 5 hours ago, so maybe something was stuck when you tested (which the version hint may point to)?

The message you posted indicates that the plugin thinks its not active.
An easy thing you can always do is to just close and restart the mumble client, so the plugin will initialize from scratch.

Dordek has another video that shows the radioGUI, you may use that for (echo-)testing.
When using flightgear, you must be sure that your plane's radiostack is operational (and with some planes like the C172p the cannot tune 910.00 MHz.

When retesting today, is the issue gone?

It will only say "active" if FGCom-Mumble has connected to FG or the RadioGUI.

I had to restart Mumble after installing the plugin before it will work correctly. I'm not sure why.
There are free alternatives to (almost) every program you encounter. You just have to find them.

Hello Benih and Parnikkapore,
I've restarted mumble, FG and RadioGUI and then it worked.
Probably the server needed reboot.

All works fine now.

Thanks

Released 1.1.2
https://github.com/hbeni/fgcom-mumble/r ... ag/v.1.1.2

This improves Audio quality by removing jitter caused by internal audio processing.

So, the release page seems to be clear enough, but I'll ask anyway.
For an upgrade, is it enough to grab only the fgcom-mumble-1.0.2.mumble_plugin and don't touch the rest?
