"Retiring" from FlightGear community...

Postby MD-Terp » Thu Jul 08, 2010 11:21 am

Hello everyone --

I just wanted to take a moment to let you all know that I will be "retiring" from involvement with FlightGear. While I am not trying to insinuate that this will have any significant impact on the project, I have made a great many friends here and felt obligated to say a farewell before disappearing into virtual space.

My reasons for this are innumerable, including factors both within and outside of FlightGear and its community. I will say that no single individual has led me to this decision.

I wish everyone here the best, within the project and in the rest of your lives, and invite any and all of you to keep in touch (rmsjr74 -at- yahoo -dot- com).

Thanks and take care,
-Rob.
Cheers,
-Rob.

"Retired" from FlightGear involvement as of July 2010.

Good luck. You've created some fun events and a couple nice airports along the way. Thank you for your contribution, and I hope everything turns out well.

Wow, I have to say I'm pretty surprised to see you go Rob. I do hope you'll find your way back again once you've had a breather and taken care of whatever needs taking care of. Thanks for everything, the events, the airports, atc, etc...you've contributed much and always been helpful member of community.

Wow. I'm sad. Very sad to see you go Rob. All the nice airports. I tried to do TGA once but never had the time to do it again. Thanks for all you have done!

Hi Rob,

what a sad news on this wonderfull (weather) day. You were the last I could think of that would leave the community shortly.
If I knew this I would have tried much harder to attend your TGA events. I have the deepest regret that I attended only one of them, which wasn't even a succesfell attempt :(

Thanks a lot for all your valuable input/efforts. All the best with your future life (outside FG). And I look forward to welcoming you back, whenever/if that day may come! However, we know that most "leavers" will come back one day, so I have good hope ;)

Cheers,
Gijs

PS: Did you already got a "FlightGear T-shirt"? If not, I will make sure that Curt sends you one!

Dear Rob,

I can safely say, and maybe this is true for others as well, but your TGA website taught me more about flying then any other single source.

Thank you, flying teacher/mentor.
Not having gotten a chance to know you very well, ( I think we only ever talked once, very briefly, and about nothing) and never having been prepared enough to do anything but watch TGA from the side lines these last few months, this is truly a great loss for me personally, and an immeasurable loss for the community.

I pray that all is well with you and yours,
Be well
Ray

PS: heck I only just figured out your Callsign! :-)

Dangit Rob, that's very sad news. Tuxklok has said that TGA is one of Flightgear's shining lights, and I think that may be applied to you as well. I thank you for all you've done and contributed, hope you'll come back if you can, and wish you all the best.

Goodbye, Rob. You will be missed not only as a member of the FlightGear community, but also as our "ambassador" to the VATSIM community to get our SquakGear working better with the VATSIM Network and a flying mentor to some. Maybe some day we, the FlightGear community, will meet up with you somewhere, at some time.

See you next mission.
Sorry if I'm still not 100% active, I've just been busy with other things... college namely.
