Possibly back after a long absense

Postby calcmandan » Wed Apr 06, 2022 8:38 pm

Hi folks,

I used to utilize fgfs years ago. Most of my focus was on operating an aircraft carrier on a spare laptop and hosted 'westpac' cruises to typical locations in the Pacific. I recall having loads of fun guiding players on deck.

It's been years and many things have happened. One major change in my life was a decision to get my airman ticket. It's been four years now. Also bought a plane. Enjoying that immensely. I start my instrument training next week and figured it would be awfully nice to have an actual simulator to practice on to memorize my procedures than the alternative (which is what I did for my private) - chair flying. I always hated miming my procedures.

So I hope to get the ball rolling and enjoy fgfs again - and hope there's a model of my actual plane : bellanca super viking.

If you mean that Viking with the engine mounted over the pilot's head ? Then, yes, that model exists in FG ! :) Although only with a YAsim FDM.

"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

yeah... for several years in network security related environs... in fact i'm looking at you in IRC right now
then there's another forum that's quite quiet these days even though it is also related to network security and network perimeter protections...
i won't even mention old-school BBSes and message networks like fidonet and dovenet...
that should be enough hints i think ;)
