Fast fg portable Aug. 10,3.6 in ramdisk Win10,Linux trials?

Postby rico001 » Fri Aug 21, 2020 10:22 pm

I was now able to get flightgear 1.0 32bit (special portable )and flightgear 2020 3.6 August 10, 2020 build working in ramdisk.

The portable 1.0 build starts up with windows, and after a plane crashes, shift+escape works to reset the plane .

The software I am using is IMTools
ImDiskTk-x64.zip on sourceforge dated 7 27 2020

Has anyone tried a ramdisk on linux with flightgear? I like it loading faster....

Used to use a tmpfs based ramdisk to speed up rebuilding FlightGear, there's no reason why it shouldn't work - obviously, changes should only be made while on a persistent disk, or you'd need some kind of rsync-based scheme to apply changes to the persistent storage afterwards
