North American eclipse

Observing the eclipse today was fascinating.

One of the more remarkable observations, in my opinion, was the effect it had on the atmosphere. I'm in the heart of Kansas and our dew points and humidity are relatively high. As soon as the temperature started to change from the eclipse the moister in the atmosphere appeared to condense enough for instant cloud formation. Right at our totality the sky turned from almost a picture perfect blue sky to maybe 50 percent cloud cover. It is now at about 70-80 percent cloud coverage.

What a trip.

EDIT: I just heard the exact opposite explanation for clearing skies right at totality in other areas of the country.
It was obvious to me that the cooling air temperature brought it closer to the dew-point and caused the condensation.


I managed some filtered pictures. It's nothing like some of the professional video and pictures that are being taken across the country right now.
