OpenSource GitHub Survey

Postby CaptB » Mon Jun 05, 2017 7:29 am

This: http://opensourcesurvey.org/2017/ is quite an interesting survey for 2017 by GitHub about Libre and OpenSource. Among other things it found that the documentation of such projects is incomplete or confusing. An interesting read, can we here as the FG community learn anything from it?

People would think the same about FG's documentation, but unfortunately given how many people read and make good use of the existing documentation and how differently people think about what good documentation is, it's generally more efficient *not* to write documentation and rather to answer questions once someone starts asking - the amount of documentation that's actually requested is a tiny fraction of what could potentially be there, so producing it 'on demand' sort of makes sense.
