Even longer than me. I have 'only' been using FlightGear since 2.0.0.

Hi all, Jorge from Western New York State here. I joined a few days ago. One of my hobbies is 3D Modeling so I am hoping to participate in some modeling of simple parts, like toggle switches, display panels, and simple things regarding models. I will be tied up with a few models for FlightGear for the next few days/weeks, but I will not post details here.

I don't have much interest in any aircraft with exception to Space Shuttles and support aircraft so most of my time will be spent there. However I have noticed toggle switches and panels that can be shared between models but each craft seems to have a local copy. It will take me some time to research how FlightGear works with these minor details and how it is all brough together so wish me luck :)

Hi and Welcome! :D

It might be a distraction, but consider register to the wiki as well as you might get an 'itch' to improve some of the documentation while you are reading in on stuff. ;)

Hi everyone, I'm relatively new to FG. I've always dreamed of being able to play on a flight simulator and finally can. I know that I have much to learn and hoping I can give back to the community.

Welcome! A nice couple of years ago I was a forum member. It was during the simulator version 1.7 I think. I remember that I was flying on some old Athlon and radeon with 128MB of memory. I'm glad that the simulator itself is doing well, as well as this forum. I remember there was a Polish equivalent of the forum, but I guess it no longer exists. I am glad to visit you again!

Newbie

Hello all,

I'm new here on Flightgear.
Been active with flight simulator FS2004 from 2002 to 2007.
Unfortunately the computer systems became too expensive for me to upgrade.
I would like to help with the further development of Flightgear.
I am not a programmer, and this is not my thing.
I do have 5 years of real-life gliding experience.

I do not know where to start to help with the development, maybe someone can help me with that?

Greetings Robert

Having a real-life pilot is always good - I suggest to send a PM to D-ECHO here on the forum - he's maintaining several gliders, maybe also one you flew IRL and I guess he would be glad to have a real-life glider pilot ! :) Apart from that, even if you're not a programmer, there's still a number of ways to contribute to FG - for example by taking photos of trees and buildings, adding scenery models, making liveries, … and in addition, becoming an actual programmer isn't that hard either !

If one of the moderators could set my account to "retired", that would be very fitting. Real life has got me in its claws and I've been inactive for so long, I think this is a good time to do this. Thanks!

And thanks to all of the FG community for all the good times I've had with FG! It was a blast! Thanks! Over and out! And have a nice day everybody!

Hello I'm new here, new to FlightGear, and new to flight sims in general honestly. I'm more of a train nerd than aviation nerd in the actual world but flying games are generally more complete and there's just more to get from them. Also this one was Linux compatible and freely licensed and all that goodness. I've been crash coursing myself into this little world and I'll definitely have a new perspective next time I go to CDG/LFPG to catch a flight.

It's also wonderful to see a traditional forum still up and active. I still find them far superior to this type of support/documentation/discussion than, say, a Discord server.

I just started using Flightgear last month and i love it. You guys have done a fantastic job. I'm 68 years old, retired Electrician. Have been using MSFS X for many years. Got new gaming computer and the new MSFS 2020, still cant use it , not enough video ram, i got 2 gig video card. So I took a chance on Flightgear and im so glad i did. Still learning it and loving it.
