How old is the flightgear community?

Postby D-ECHO » Sun Jun 05, 2016 5:44 am

Hi!
I got this idea from http://thejabberwocky.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=590 and would like to ask, just for interest, how old you are :)
Let's see what'll come out!
:D
(the poll will run 120 days, don't want it to be never-ending as ages change :D)

10-20; closer to ten ;)

The official FG team might also be interested in the results at the jabberwocky forum, and the average age of about 35 years; Dr. Skyboat has made a nice analysis of the data :P

I'm 36. I think it would be interesting to see a finer breakdown in the 10-20 range because a lot changes in life between, for example, 12 and 18.

Yep, I agree, though I'd put it in an extra topic to don't delete the votes yet made.

So the results for the moment are:
- Average age 34.17 (has changed)
- no younger than 10 years
- no older than 70 years
- most people 10-20 and 30-40 years (both 24%)
:D

I'd be extremely interested in knowing the results of those that chose to not use the forum and therefor are excluded from said poll. Not too mention, a view of who actually voted.

I'm not sure why this would matter. Do different age groups require a different sim somehow? Or do we just create a realistic sim for all who want to enjoy it, regardless of age?

it's unfortunate, but this was nothing more then an attempt to prove who 'the child' really is in these, often, disagreements. I assume taking a minuscule portion of the community seems to be proof enough to continue the drama. --sigh

More useful might be demographics of web site visits (although this week we have a huge spike in web traffic from the acting-like-age 2-3 group trying to 'hack' one of the flightgear web servers by sending an overwhelming number of http requests.) Or perhaps it would be interesting to see the demographics of those that download flightgear. What these forum polls do is summarize the ages of flightgear forum users who are happy to self report their own age to the group. And that's fine for what it is, but it's not a random statistical sample.
