Also making movies (comedy short: The Tooth Fairy)

Postby Volador » Mon Oct 18, 2021 1:21 pm

Myself and a group of volunteers here in Yorkshire (UK) made this short comedy film called The Tooth Fairy. It's about a guy who has to step up and look after his daughter when his wife walks out. He's on a trial job as a local council environmental officer and it's not plain sailing for him...
We actually started in 2017 (!) and it's only just been finished about 6 months ago with the final music soundtrack in place (due to that fact it was quite ambitious, zero budget and all volunteers). We have a trailer too :D

It'll be screening (free) at an online (and live) festival on 7th Nov 2021 which starts at 19:30GMT, for those interested here's the booking link

Trailer looks funny!
Will the full version get online after the event, or is this a single Chance?

Thanks Beni :) it will not be online afterwards so this is your chance (for a good while anyway) - I've noticed it's the same evening as the last day of the Hackathon too - but it's out of my control (not unlike my high altitude landings with amphibian aircraft). It /might/ end up on amazon prime later next year though.

The movie is over and i enjoyed it :)
However it was sometimes hard to follow the language.

Having the shellfish drawing presented to you as a father is surely not so nice (but to really grasp that you need to have kids in school)
:) but his response was very funny!

Err yes, dark humor - it could be a British thing, also it was linked to what he shouted earlier in the film and later interpreted by the daughter. I appreciate the language/speed can also get in the way sometimes. Thanks so much for tuning in Beni

Yes, it was fun!
However, the movie also has a sad story in it, and that makes me hope there is some bright light for him - maybe mom returns, maybe also the tooth fairy?

I liked it alot.

Don't be sad ;) Yes, the last two scenes were trying to indicate that there was hope as the new family unit started to form (I also wrote the female character Francesca to take her time). It was intentional to have themes of neglect and self responsibility mixed with the humour. As for hope, perhaps it needed a stronger indication than the exchage at the final scene. I'll learn for next time... :)

No, I think I got that hope feeling from the end.
I just was not that sure, but attribute it to the language barrier.
