Unless all articles are translated in all languages, such thing would be too difficult to be worth the effort.
Better spend your time on translating important (most viewed) articles first ;)

What should I do if I want to translate the Main Page into my language(Chinese)?

Copy the main page's content to this page: http://wiki.flightgear.org/index.php?ti ... ction=edit and translate the text. And make sure you read http://wiki.flightgear.org/index.php/Help:Translate

Chinese is currently not supported by the language/system, (so you cannot add those links in the menu yet). However, I do believe that you can write in Chinese already... I will contact the wiki admin about this.

EDIT: I see you already created a Chinese page. It looked fine! Just continue to translate the entire page that way!

Cheers,
Gijs

Okay, Chinese is added now. Just add [[zh:Page Title]] to an English/German/Dutch etc. page to create a link (in the menu) to the Chinese version.

The new google Chrome has a built in translate feature. You just go to file>translate. It will also automatically translate something in another language. Just thought you guys would find that useful if you don't want to translate the whole wiki manually.

Hello !

I just translated http://wiki.flightgear.org/index.php/Howto:_Use_The_Normal_Map_Effect_in_Aircraft into french, but I must be dumb, I didn't understand how to make my french version appear as an option... the link in 'other languages" never works...

The french one is here :
http://wiki.flightgear.org/index.php/Howto:_Use_The_Normal_Map_Effect_in_Aircraft/fr

Could someone explain me how to name my version so that the link works ?

Besides, this page, ( the english original ) is not linked anywhere in the wiki. I think it would deserve a link in the aircraft developers portal. Could someone with enough rights add it ? I didn't a find a way to do that.

Thank you !

ok, I managed to link the french version, but now I end with a page that is unecessary. It seems I cannot delete it, it would be nice if someone with this ability could delete :

http://wiki.flightgear.org/index.php/Tutoriel:_Usage_de_l%27effet_de_Normal_Maps

the correct one, not to be deleted, now lives on : http://wiki.flightgear.org/index.php/Fr/Tutoriel:_Usage_de_l%27effet_de_Normal_Maps

Thank you to whoever linked the english one to the aircraft developer's portal !

Salut woot je pense pas que l'on soit trop nombreux comme français à traduire.
Je pense qu'on devrait commencer par traduire l'aide, non ? j'ai déjà commencé :
http://wiki.flightgear.org/index.php/Fr/Help:Aide

Ok, glad you managed it. The "translation" help does list the fact that the language abbreviation has to be added in front of the (translated) article title, so I don't know why that went wrong...

I've removed the unneccesary page.

I'd like to know how to add a new flag on the Main Page.

I am thinking of doing Japanese... except:
1) They already have their own (outdated) Wiki
2) Japanese FG is seldom used
3) Low demand
Should I go on and do this anyways?
Look for "B-BIRD" "N127KY" or "AVA0004" -that's me.

Despite having over 1700 posts here, I am not even close to being the most skilled guy here... I'm just words and bad drawing, not experience. :P

The only Japanese FGFS person I can think of Tatushiro, the mac guy. And then of course there are others. I would say if there aren't a lot of a single language using FGFS no need to translate the wiki to that language. They can use the translation plug-in in their browser or google translater.
