 That is a lot of data, but makes sense in a way. :|

at this time, terrasync with the new OSM additions tops the scales at

1787579 files in
50114 directories consuming
87.4GiB (93889942169 bytes)

and it will get larger as more OSM items are added...

just the current OSM stuff in the Buildings, Models, Pylons and Roads directories weighs in at

62299 files in
182 directories consuming
4.3GiB (4634641629 bytes)

agreed but i don't think i've ever seen that unless the airport was on a tile i didn't already have loaded and/or i was in the UFO and flying >~2500kts or faster... at those speeds, it was easy for me to outrun my system's ability to get the terrain loaded... this with all terrain (yes the entire world) already downloaded and updated before flying...

V12 wrote in Sun Mar 05, 2017 7:27 am:I downloaded terrain manualy from FG web, I hope my 20MBit internet connection will be sufficient for OSM. After tests, I will report.

it should be quite fine... i have only 3Mbit download and it doesn't take any time for terrasync.py to update my scenery... granted, on initial download, yes, there will be a load to be pulled but after that, it should be easier with additional updates...

"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Yesterday, with Concorde and some mystery miracles I managed fly from LZIB to KLIT (4500 nm) without any problems with scenery download. But I disabled that OSM data. After landing I had only 9 tons of the fuel in my tanks...

I've always been wondering under what conditions you out-race terrasync. I tested the Concorde to be fine long ago, I've also done some tests with the SR-71. I suspect the X-15 might actually be fast enough to get into trouble, especially if you run a high visibility. Though to my surprise the Advanced Weather package turned out to be fast enough to keep up with the X-15.

With the Shuttle or Vostok, you're definitely too fast for either...

What scenery version ? 1.0 or new hi-res 2.0 ?
Today, I will try flight with Concorde from LZIB to ENBR with OSM data turned ON, I will report.

Must have been 1.0.

Actually, if TS is clever, OSM shouldn't make a difference, because the Concorde could be so high that it never gets requested as being out of the LOD range.

"With the Shuttle or Vostok, you're definitely too fast for either..." because of orbital velocity is higher, you need to download the tiles in advance or enable earthview rendering and then come down on a path over existing tiles on your PC.

You know not to be a COB, ( I am 60 years old, I have been to a few rock concerts in my life..) but if you could turn off the hyped-up rock soundtrack, so we can hear what the new features are. Is that too much to ask?

I don't need to be excited by music encouragement, I like FlightGear already.

My problem occured with IAS 200 kts at 1500 feets, I was on the final approach to EGKK with active glideslope.
I had not problems yesterday with low level flight around all airports in Slovakia. I need test other regions.

in my case it was bad copper aerial lines carrying the meager 3M/768k DSL... 3M is only 300kb/sec and when you add a lot of noise from the bad copper, well, the speed drops dramatically...

so anyway, take out the UFO to maybe 2000 feet altitude and open her up...

EG: start in the UFO at KJFK... set the GPS to KLAX... elevate to 2000 feet... increase speed as the craft homes in on the GPS path... watch your altitude... you'll need to climb a bit here and there... currently, at about 2500kts, KJFK to KLAX direct is showing roughly 49 minutes total travel time ;)

somewhere near KUNV i started seeing scenery tiles loading... i have the entire world at hand so nothing should need to be downloaded... especially since i always terrasync.py before loading the sim...

Hi V12, Have you ever considered using Terramaster? This is a JAVA program so you'll need JAVA RTE installed. Just download tiles ( I have the whole world which uses about + - 84Gb) It also incorperates buildings as well as terrain and objects. You then store these tiles in a folder ( mine is in the "flightgear" folder within the documents folder) and just use this as your only scenery option. It will then pull the tiles up as needed wherever you are. Also all I do is sync' the tiles that I know I'll be flying over about ever couple of weeks to ensure that any new buildings, terrain, or objects on the ground or at airports are up to date. The link for this is: https://github.com/Portree-Kid/terramaster Then no more terrasync issues! Hope this helps?
