Scenemodels Database Maintenance

Postby Torsten » Tue Feb 07, 2017 11:18 am

The server hosting the scenemodels database and web frontend at https://scenery.flightgear.org/ will go down temporarily and for short periods of time over the next couple of days.
I don't expect outages to last longer than up to an hour. The entire process should be complete by the end of February 2017.

Background: I am changing the mainboard and the drive array. More CPU cores, more RAM and a 2TB SSD RAID to get ready for the ever growing database and worldwide osm2city data.

One step forward:
The database and the website has moved to the new hardware.
Some services are not yet back on track, namely:
- the airport-ID lookup for the map at http://scenery.flightgear.org/map/
- the database exporter (new models do not show up at terrasync at the moment. However, data in the database is safe and will be there once the exporter runs again)
- the SVN source for the terrasync mirror

I hope to get those running tomorrow.

Almost done!

After some trouble due simultan updates of postgresql, python and other tools which required some hacking, the scenemodels exporter just completed it's first run. In a few hours, the mirrors should have picked up the latest models and objects. I can see, a lot is happening in Bergen which ist nice :-)

The SVN repository is still offline, I hope to get this fixed tonight. This is the only open item that I know of. If there is anything suspicous, please let me know.

Thorsten ( And everyone else within the development team), I will "mirror" what Alex said above, and add Thank you from myself, and keep up the hard work...which may I say that I think most people just take for granted far too often, and think it all "just happens by magic" Clive
