2016.2.1 "Barcelona" is released

Postby Necolatis » Tue May 17, 2016 9:18 pm

I did not see a thread for it, so I thought I would make one.

2016.2.1 has been released:

Thanks to the devs that worked to make this happen.

The main page and release notes will be out in a few days

It has happened before that a release for a particular platform was released a few days later due to a problem. I don't know the current status but am fairly sure there will be a workable version for Mac's.

According to Torsten, the mac build should work now also.

Can anyone list good reasons for moving from 3.7 to 2016.2.1?

For now my FG is working relatively well, with the exception of Terrasync and a couple of other things. I'm basically worried that an update will break more than fix/add. So any objective opinions/comparisons would be very welcome.

3.7 was only in the repo for a short time... when 3.6 was canceled, the new version format was introduced with the alpha/beta in the repository being adjusted from 3.7 to 2016.1.0... when it was ready, the first release of 2016 was 2016.1.1 and the repo changed to 2016.2.0... now 2016.2.1 has been released and the repo is 2016.3.0... i think there was also a 2016.1.2 released as a final bug fix for that release... this move was part of the change to rolling releases where every three months a new release is cut loose...

"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

I'm not sure if that was for me, but if it was, my question was just what benefits I could expect moving from 3.7 to 2016.2.1, and if it's worth it.

it was directed at you, lydiot, yes... you probably should try it and then decide about the benefits... frankly i don't recall all the changes and fixes that have taken place since 3.4... since i started building everything on my own, i've been flying a rolling alpha/beta and things are just looking better and better...

First thing: Update works well.
Second and really first: The Barcelona Scenery is marvellous, a great idea to discover new start airports with new releases. Congratulations to the developers, be they Catalan or whatever nationality :)
