Release Process Delayed

Postby Torsten » Mon Jul 20, 2015 9:45 am

Due to the outage at SourceForge, the creation of the release branches has to be postponed until our repositories are back online.

I don't have any information beyond the official note from SourceForge sfnet_ops and can just sit and wait as anybody else while the operators push in the wheelbarrows with backup tapes.

We have dismissed the idea of preparing the release branches and release candidates offline because of the many manual steps required. Instead we will shorten the release-candidate period and still plan for a release around Aug. 17th.

No problem, sometimes happens a delay. It is important it won't be cancelled.

Once SF is back online can we have a few days before making the branches - there's a few items that I was about ready to commit to fgaddon on the 16th (for the F-14 and F-15) and I wonder if anyone else is in the same situation.

Well, I have still to test all my planes on 3.6, but given the number of them, this will go far beyond the official release date. And some need other work too, so I am not so worried. What work, works, the other stuff, needs quick fixes. Is the memory leak in the RM gone with 3.6? That is my main pain right now (still on official 3.4).

I am running the canvas A320 at a pretty constant memory on 3.5.

Sourceforge seems to be working...? Git and mercurial works... not svn yet.

Well. I've tested most of them under 3.5, so I think you are in rather good shape JWocky
(testing more is always a good thing)
If we gave everybody in the World free software today, but we failed to teach them about the four freedoms, five years from now, would they still have it? Probably not, because if they don’t recognise their freedoms, they’ll let their freedoms fall

Now that all our repositories at SourceForge are back online again, I am planning to create the release branches this evening (Monday 27, CET timezone).
