I tried to fly across Georgia and catch fault of sim with this error:
Code: Select all
FATAL:XML or text declaration not at start of entity
 at /home/soitanen/terrasync/Airports/U/D/2/UD21.threshold.xml,
line 9, column 16
(received from SimGear XML Parser)

Can it be fixed on the server side?

This is a limitation (actually, it is a bug) of current fgrun: if it finds an airport in the scenery but not in the apt.dat, it repeats the name of the last airport. This means that the scenery includes more airports than the internal FlightGear database! You can update the database manually (my choice), wait for an update of FlightGear, or try to fix fgrun.

To update the database, download the last data from X-Plane (version 9, if I recall correctly) and substitute FGDATA/Airport/apt.dat with earth_apt.dat from X-Plane. You can also update nav.dat and fix.dat. Remember compressing these files using GZip format!

Hi Ludomotico,

Resolved bug, downloaded and installed the file, the previous apt.dat 4.73 MB, and the new is 21.9 MB (x-plane 10.00), this version is more up to date, I believe this being the latest is best, strange was the much larger size of the file in relation to what I had previously.
Greetings and thanks

PS: also updated files, nav.dat and fix.dat

Most of the new data is not really used by the simulator, only by the scenery tools. A reduced apt.dat without these data for normal users could be easily created to save space, but I don't believe maintaining two versions of apt.dat (normal and reduced) is going to be a good idea.

It took me a while to get back to this topic because I had other priorities, but I thank you for the explanations.
Now is updated and no bug, is working well, a bit of delay at startup, but nothing worrisome. What pissed me off was seeing that lots of airports names repeated, one of them was more than 10 times
Greetings and thanks again

So...I have 3.0.0, but when I USSR terrasync I get the same old choppy rivers and whatnot. How do I get this to work? Thanks. Eye candy!

The "choppy" rivers are due to inaccurate VMAP0 data. Europe was updated because there is a good resolution landcover with a compatible license. If the same applies to Russia, then probably it'll be possible to make it better one day. You can see the landcover using the mapserver: http://mapserver.flightgear.org/map/?lo ... 22&zoom=12 and see which places have a better landcover.
However, you should have noticed an improve in the terrain resolution (mountains), roads (OSM), and airports.
