Release Progress (2.4.0)

Postby Torsten » Sun Jul 17, 2011 1:42 pm

Today (July 17th, 2011) the branches for the next release have been created in our GIT repository.
In the next few days, our first release candidates will be ready for testing. Beta-testers are very welcome and requested to report bugs to the bugtracker. Those who are familiar with GIT and build from source may checkout the branch release/2.4.0 to build the release version or stick to next/master which are now running the version 2.5.0.
As allways, make sure your version of FGDATA matches those of FlightGear and SimGear.

Thanks to all for the patience during the feature-moratorium over the last four weeks which helped to us create a stable code base. And special thanks to all who make this release possible by contributing their time and knowledge.

The official release is scheduled for Aug, 18th 2011. Details about the release process are published at The Release Plan.

I'd presume so Tristar. Although, correct me if I'm wrong, wasn't v2 for Mac released on a non-official site ?

We should include also a Linux binary in the download or DVD. Not every Linux user wants to download all bleeding edge of ~3.7GB. I understand packet manager and location questions but we should simply forget that and do alike the "download_and_compile.sh" script and include only a folder alike Mac/Windows.

Simple - just write a script that downloads the official fgdata bundle instead of a Git bundle.

@Tristar: ask (PM) Boeing or another Mac user, and ask them how to get the terminal to show up. Then, when you hit "d" it will give you code in the terminal.

I have 1 quick questions about the main new features:
Will there be better textures? (Such as for example taxi ways that don't look like they are overlapping each other (via Transparency))
Will there be better Clouds and Water?
Will extremly common bugs such as Rain, Snow, Low Framerate, Runwaylights, and other big bugs be fixed?

Thanks, I think I am speaking in behalf of everyone with these questions

Tristar said,
when i press "d" nothing happens!! no terminal!!
After pressing 'd', go to Finder (Desktop) , under the 'GO' menu, select 'Go to folder'
This gives you access to your Mac's hidden files.
Type in '~/.fgfs' and press go.
Then open 'log.txt'.
There's your data.
