Thanks Curt!

So, open call to everyone on the forum: please help us testing the new FlightGear release candidate!

We want to release the final 2.4.0 build on August 17th. We only have about 2 weeks left for fixing any potential issues. If you want the next FlightGear release to be as good as it gets, then download the latest release candidate now (currently ftp://ftp.goflyflightgear.com/flightgea ... 4.0rc3.exe) and test if that's working well on your system. And please report any issues. We can only improve the release candidate, when problems are reported. Otherwise the final release will be identical to the installer above.

cheers,
Thorsten

Runway lights are already fixed. The latest release canidate already provides a new option in the menu: "View" => "Rendering" dialog. Disable "point-sprites" in the dialog, if runway lights aren't working for you, then restart fgfs. According to reports so far, it's working for everyone who had issues earlier.

Several problems with that:

  • FG lacks standardized properties for reverse thrusters and speedbrakes. Most planes use /engine/engine[n]/reverser-pos-norm (which I presume is more proper), but I have seen some use /surface-positions/{left|right}-reverser-pos-norm. And some planes (like mine) have nonstandard separate inboard/outboard speedbrake properties.
  • We need to add those properties to the replay system. The best way to do that is to make them aircraft-definable - which can't be done yet, and requires changes to the source code.
  • After making those changes in master, they have to be cherry-picked to the releases/2.4.0 branch, and the patch may not apply cleanly.

You are welcome to work on this yourself. :)

Yes, Tristar, the replay system needs improvements. That's larger task which has been discussed several times already. But that's not going to happen for FG2.4.0, sorry.

check this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNilmjrFOJ4&feature=related and
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHLRdyNjgXY&feature=BFa&list=ULowXdSOUC1lw&index=42 alsohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4IQABhI7o0&feature=BFa&list=ULowXdSOUC1lw&index=35

nice tropical water would make flightgear look much more realistic

would it be possible to add water customisability into FlightGear. As the Great Barrier Reef really is NOT done justice in FG.

Thanks all for the nice work in the release process.

For those who are asking for new features, the time is now to release and fix major bugs, not to implement new features, those are to be developed for the future, not... for August ! Else the release will never be released !
