Any suggestions?

You could try reseting the default fgrun options ... click back, back, back in fgrun until you can't go any further, then look for the "defaults" button at the bottom of the screen.

I think I know what this is. I too have the very same problem.

Please notice in the error above it says ( with capital F not little f):
at Files/FlightGear

If it were a well formed path the error would read...

at c:/Program Files/FlightGear

so I am tending to believe that the path is not "quoted" properly for the program to find the part after
c:/Program

Most programs require paths with a space as part of the path to be qouted like...
"C:\Program Files\FlightGear"

A known workaround is to use the path windows translates a quoted path to, such as...
C:\Progra~1\FlightGear

But i have not tested this yet and will report back as soon as test is complete.
might be a while for me to test as there are other issues ( very slow running on my kit)
with the suggested Nightly build.

It's looking great, the 2.2. Please continue with the great work.

Confirmed!

It is only the new "FG_AIRCRAFT" box that has the problem in at least the 1.6.0 Launch control pane.
If you want to add planes using the box then I suggest typing something like this into a text editor
and then using copy paste to enter the path into the "ADD.." box:

C:\Progra~1\Flight~3\data\**path-to-aircraft**

Progra~1 fixes the space between Program and Files in the original path.
Flight~3 was because I have 3 versions of flightgear in my Program Files directory.
one can open a prompt and navigate to the Program Files folder and enter

C:\Program Files>dir /X FLI*
the "/X" tells "dir" to give you the shortcut you need right next to the name of the directory you want.

I had just made a copy of my 2.0 Aircraft folder and renamed it Aircraft2 and dropped it into
the nightly build Aircraft folder. I did this so that if I wanted to make changes to
planes I already had in 2.0 to work in 2.2 I would not disturb the original planes.

the original path created by the handy "ADD.." dialog would bave been.

C:\Program Files\FlightGear v20110509\data\Aircraft\Aircraft2.0

and became : (please notice the space between FlightGear and the version number)

C:\Progra~1\Flight~3\data\Aircraft\Aircraft2.0

It may be different for you, anyone trying this work around.

The reason I mention writting the new path to a text file and copy/paste it into the
ADD.. dialog is that if you try to use the ADD.. dialog to navigate to the new path
the dialog will try to help you create the path and will make this difficult for you
by always assuming you want the fully spelled out path as we normally see it.

Please remember that older planes pointed to in this way may or may not
work in a nightly build, the way you expect them to work.

I'm currently testing the latest nightly build I could find and It's working fine, far as I can tell.

Does anyone recall the original setting for ADVANCED-FLIGHT MODEL-MODEL-HZ????
I changed mine and now I do not recall the original setting.
Wiki search --- nothing there
Manual --- nothing there except "model-hz=n"
Forum Search --- does not have the string "model-hz" in the entire forum, lol really?
If you have never changed this value then it would still be the default setting and
you could tell me. :D or if you happen to recall?

TIA

Deleting C:\Users\AS9423-ULT\AppData\Roaming\flightgear.org\fgrun.prefs and restarting FGRun after that should help (but it will delete all your custom settings)...
Another option is to check Gitorious -> http://gitorious.org/fg/fgdata/blobs/ma ... ml#line217

Newest snapshot package is available for download here:

http://mirrors.ibiblio.org/pub/mirrors/ ... 110516.exe

Should include Torsten's local weather 1.1 package along with any other changes and updates.

Edit: My download (for confirmation of validity) cut out on me too this time. Simply retrying helped... I have no idea why this happens...

Very impressed with the latest snapshot for MacOSX, from Tat which is on http://sourceforge.net/projects/macflightgear/files/, if some mac users without GIT haven't had an update since 2.0!
Some very nice work :)

Liam, does your copy take 2 minutes to launch, like mine does? It usually takes forever to quit, too, unless I force-quit.

I concur with Liam. Excellent stuff from Tat as per usual. Thanks Tat.

@ Lanny,
No such problems here. If anything, I think this version loads quicker than the previous GIT snapshot.

I don't know where to suggest you start investigating. I assume you have looked at your log and nothing obvious jumped out at you.

Cheers,

It might be interesting to compare RAM sizes to see if that is a factor in load times. I've always had plenty ram on my linux machine, but on my old windows laptop, flightgear can take a *long* time to load because part way through the system needs to start swapping pages back out to disk to make room for the new stuff getting loaded. You might try quitting all other programs you have running (as a test) and see if that improves load times. Also, on my linux box (which has 12Gb of ram), loading up a 2nd or 3rd time is much faster because everything is cached in ram after the initial load. This is nice when developing and testing and fixing because of the frequent restart cycle.

4GB RAM here. On Linux/LXDE it takes ~20sec to completely load. WinXP takes slightly longer on the same machine. No swapping activity at all...
