I attempted to download both of these releases, both got to about 200MB and suddenly said "download interrupted"

However, thats fine downloading one thats a little older is still okay

Don't hesitate to let me know if I'm incorrect or just annoying! As long as you do it gently! :)

FYI, the 20110705 release on Chris' server gives me a "Corrupted setup file" error...
I'll try the one from Curt as well, but that takes 50 times as long to download :P

EDIT: Hm, Curt's download works. Not sure what you did there Chris! :D

:? Hm, before posting the link, I downloaded it myself and it installed just fine... Sometimes the download cancels before completion. Maybe that's what happened? From time to time it aborts. I have no idea why...

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Speaking of mirrors, from the list of mirrors on this page:

http://www.flightgear.org/mirrors.html

These doesn't work for me:

http://www.very-clever.com/download/flightgear/
ftp://ftp.flightgear.org/pub/flightgear/

And this one is the fastest one for me with a download speed of ~2.5 MB/sec:

ftp://ftp.kingmont.com/flightsims/flightgear/
I'm using FlightGear Git version on a Win 7 machine with an onboard ATI graphic card and 3 GB of RAM.

Suggestion to curt:

I think you should add a custom installation option in the setup where the user decides about more options, for example the list of Aircraft to be installed, etc.

I downloaded Curt's file, but it seems to hang on installation - it says it's creating directories, and my disc is working hard all the time, but the installer stays at this stage indefinitely and the display starts going a bit mad, as Windows often does when something has stopped responding. Task Manager also reports that it's not responding.

I'm downloading Chris's file now, will give that a go. I'm about to start weaning myself off Windows, but at the moment, FG under XP deals with my bottom-rung graphics hardware better than Ubuntu does, so I'm sticking with the Windows version for now. I'll report back if there's any better luck with Chris's package.

Cheers for putting these things together, chaps, I must admit I find doing it the GIT way a bit befuddling!

EDIT: Just an update - it seems the installation issue was in fact local: I think I've sorted it.

Has anyone had a chance to download and test the v2011-12-05 developer snapshot?

Sadly, nope.
However, I do know that the 11/19 one crashes (unknown exception) whenever I try to fly anywhere near London, and that using the replay turns collision modeling off for the Nimitz...
Look for "B-BIRD" "N127KY" or "AVA0004" -that's me.

Despite having over 1700 posts here, I am not even close to being the most skilled guy here... I'm just words and bad drawing, not experience. :P

Like I said already previously, I would suggest to add a corresponding note to the monthly newsletter whenever there's a new snapshot release, that should be as simply as copying/pasting your posting to the newsletter. That's exactly what I did now: http://wiki.flightgear.org/FlightGear_N ... t_releases

That should give you some more exposure.
Please don't send support requests by PM, instead post your questions on the forum so that all users can contribute and benefit
Thanks & all the best,
