I have been trying to post a new snap shot every week:

http://mirrors.ibiblio.org/pub/mirrors/ ... ftp/Win32/

(look for the files named "Setup FlightGear vYYYYMMDD.exe")

I need a better scheme which I'm slowly chipping away at ....

Why not name them with YYYY_WW (week number)?

My words weren't written very clearly--no coffee yet this morning. :-) I meant that I need a better scheme for announcing and distributing these snapshot builds. I'm working on that ...

I know the feeling :).
Then why not post them on the home page?
Most major projects have links to beta/development versions from the homepage.
(not too flashy as to not steal attention from the stable version link, but there for the brave/interested people)

Bug Report:
When I click on the viewer button, FGFS fails. It says that FGFS has stopped working.

Latest Developer Snapshot.

I'm using March 1st snapshot, and I tried what you just said and I got the error message explained here: viewtopic.php?t=11352

I think this is the same bug that you have, but in your case it crashes FG totally.
I'm using FlightGear Git version on a Win 7 machine with an onboard ATI graphic card and 3 GB of RAM.

If you are fetching things yourself, you need the latest 3rdParty packages:

ftp://ftp.ihg.uni-duisburg.de/FlightGear/Win32/MSVC/

You need the latest archives from the hudson server:

http://flightgear.simpits.org:8080/job/ ... rchive.zip
http://flightgear.simpits.org:8080/job/ ... rchive.zip
http://flightgear.simpits.org:8080/job/ ... rchive.zip

The latest openal installer:

http://connect.creativelabs.com/openal/ ... alinst.zip

And the latest MSVC redist for VC8

http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... st_x86.exe

Then you need the most recent fgdata from git ... and then finally all assembled in the correct directory layout on your system.

If you work through it once and take notes, then you can update yourself whenever you like with minimal downloads. And it's really not all that hard (just a bit fiddly the first few times through until you learn the drill.)

The whole point of my developer snapshot release is for those that don't want to do all these steps manually ... just download one big setup.exe, click next a few times, and you are ready to run the latest git version (for Win32 right now).

Hi curt
I was using the way you described to update my win7 64bit FGFS.
Since I was a little lazy the last weeks I did not update, but figured today that the mentioned archives on the huson server for fgfs 64 bit are 2month and 28 days old.
Looks like the FlightGear-next-Win64 is disabled.
How do i update now?

I noticed when x64 was disabled, it appeared in next-Win alongside the 32-bit binaries.. I've been using these:

I was working on a fresh update for today, but fgrun.exe is bad off the hudson server ... I'm going to try again and hope it was some momentary glitch.

I just posted a new developers shapshot of the latest build from git (for Win32):

http://mirrors.ibiblio.org/pub/mirrors/ ... 110411.exe

This will install a ready to run exe built from the latest source code on your windows system. (No compiling or other downloading needed to run.)

Hi curt,

What are the major and minor improvements for the latest dev snapshot?

Anywhere you know where I can find this info out?

Cheers,
Vinura

If you check the changelog for the appropriate project on the Hudson build server it will give you a good idea of what is happening..
