I just browsed through this thread and found so many numbers that I thought I should make a graph displaying the interrelation between time and friends (or "likes") on Flightgear's Facebook page. Here's the result:

Image

It doesn't only look pretty linear, it is. The correlation between days and friends is 0.993, which is incredible considering this displays human behavior. I ran a regression and it predicts 19.25 friends per day over the whole period. Since the curve flattened off after March, I ran another regression with data since April, but this still predicts 18.1 likes per day.

No end in sight! Let's rock this on!

David

And that one stopped by this morning!

6000+ likes one Facebook as of today! And counting...
Now that we've beaten the FlightProSim page by far, we might set X-Plane as our next goal. We're already halfway! :D

7000+ likes today!
1000 in two months. Not bad. Gives us half a year and we will be up to 10,000 :D

Seriously? Gijs, you beat me to the 7000+ facebook likes post by 24 minutes. :-) I'm going to have to start paying closer attention to things!

I don't know why, but it's fun to watch arbitrary numbers count up and reach arbitrary milestones. :-)

The FlightGear facebook page has reached 7500 friends in just over a year. That's pretty awesome and it's great to see so much support out there.

From my perspective, the primary purpose of the FlightGear facebook page is to keep people up to date on some of the more interesting aspects of FlightGear, post announcements, new developments, or just to get your daily dose of what cool new thing is going on with FlightGear.

I see a lot of people posting their screen shots and movies and I really appreciate that.

I also see a lot of people asking questions or reporting issues. That is fine, but if you expect or need more than a 2 line answer, it's best to bring your question over here to the forum. Facebook is ok for quick Q&A, but for more in depth tech support, the forum is definitely the place to be.

Carry on ... :-)

Curt.

hehehe, that'd be me.

And your last statement, is incredibly true, especially for more pressing technical issues, as alot of the, say, techier guys wouldn't have facebook.
