Multiplayer problem

Postby Sebulba » Wed Mar 31, 2010 3:13 pm

Now this is weird and i can't figure it out so please help. If i start the game via terminal giving this: "fgfs --multiplay=out,10,mpserver01.flightgear.org,5000 --callsign=Sebulba" the multiplayer works fine! But i can't play like this cause it is not fullscreen and i only have the cesna 172. So i use fgrun and i can't get to the multiplayer! I have checked the box "multiplayer" i did put my name on the callsign i have in and out both 5000 and the full hostname (mpserver01.flightgear.org) written. What else is needed?

Try --enable-fullscreen and --aircraft=ZLT-NT :) (Or -v -h)
But more seriously, if you check the "show command line" checkbox in fgrun you should be able to see what fgrun does differently from your command line test - it almost has to be a bad --multiplay=in,10,computername,portnr argument in there.
My bet would be that fgrun has put a computer name there that do not resolve to the IP address of your network interface.

IIRC it is possible to have complete control over the --multiplay arguments in fgrun advanced settings dialog.

so instead of my computer name which in this case is "bill-desktop" (i don't know if this name is invalid for any reason) i should write my ip address?

Btw: the most users on linux prefer using terminal then any graphical things like FGRun.
You can let give you a list of all aircrafts installed, and of course you can chooese every aircraft, settings etc if you want. That's a strength of FlightGear!

Yes, that ought to work. FlightGear can figure out both your local IP address and which port to use by itself if fgrun would let it, though.

Did you use your local LAN IP address, or your Internet one?

It needs to be your local (LAN) one - probably starts with 10. or 192. ;-)

Catch22: I can't get fgrun to install & I don't know the terminal commands, where do I find them?
